Graphic and Production Assistant

Purpose of the position
The Graphic and Production Assistant position is responsible for producing design and print media for the Dean of Students Office unit and for the university’s students, staff, departments, schools and colleges, and divisions. Responsibilities include layout and design of content for print pieces, large format printing and mounting, laminating, binding and other production needs that meet client deadlines.
Responsibilities and duties
Print promotions and documents
- Graphic design (must work with Adobe software, ie. InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Print production and assembly
- Promotional art design for giveaways
- Assist with design needs for events and programs
Electronic communications
- Digital advertising design
- Social media graphics as needed
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in the WSU graphic design program
- Must have one or more years remaining before graduating
- Must have completed at least Introduction to Graphic Design course
Work experience and skills
- Effective layout and design skills
- Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
- Ability to develop original designs from vague ideas
- Provide quality customer service

Communications Assistant

Purpose of the position
The Communications Assistant position is responsible for producing communications for the Dean of Students Office unit. Responsibilities include social media management for all unit accounts, bi-weekly e-newsletters and other email communications sent to students, faculty and staff.
Responsibilities and duties
Social media
- Updating and scheduling posts to the main social media accounts with provided content
- Assisting the social media team in creating original content
- Creating new content on the fly
- Attending events and report on highlights
- Planning student-oriented campaigns and contests to increase engagement on specified platforms
Electronic communications
- Update events, promotions and other content used to create the Get Involved newsletter
- Draft and send HTML email communications
Other duties as assigned
- Student may be asked to assist with production work in Student Center Graphics during busy times
Requirements
- Must be enrolled as a Wayne State student
- Must have one or more years remaining before graduating
- Majoring in public relations or journalism or related field is ideal, but not a requirement
